SAE International recently took part in a fundraising campaign in conjunction with National Pi Day, March 14, aimed at raising awareness of the value of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum in schools. As part of the initiative, SAE President Douglas Patton matched all donations up to $3,140.
In his comments, Patton said that one of his primary ambitions in leading SAE has been to bolster STEM education. There are fewer engineers entering the workforce, Patton noted, so efforts to highlight the importance and value of STEM subjects, such as National Pi Day, is an opportunity raise awareness.
