Community-minded Nashville resident Benjamin (Ben) Perlin spends much of his time helping others. Among other charitable engagements, Benjamin Perlin has been volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville since 2016.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville serves communities in Davidson, Wilson, Dickson, and Cheatham counties. Over the last 30 years, it has helped build or recycle more than a thousand homes and served more than 2,700 people locally.

While building and refurbishing homes, Habitat for Humanity helps families make their homes more sustainable. All Habitat for Humanity homes in the Nashville area are ENERGY STAR homes, designed with energy-saving appliances and fixtures. More than 100 of these homes are also LEED certified. The EPA has recognized the Nashville chapter for this commitment with seven consecutive Sustained Excellence Awards.
These green upgrades help families save money. Over the course of a typical 30-year mortgage, these energy-efficient designs can save a family more than $25,000 in utility costs alone. Families also have access to Habitat for Humanity's HomeWORKS classes, which provide additional information about reducing the costs associated with homeownership.
